Problem: Extreme corrosion and energy loss due to periodic flooding of steam pits.
Equipment: Pipe, valves & pit cover supports in high pressure steam pit (375º F).
Location: AutoTech Research Center, Metro-Detroit

Goals:

  1. Stop corrosion - In some pits, valves are inoperable after 1 year due to pit flooding.

  2. Save energy by installing insulation that does not degrade when immersed in water.

Solution: Coat all equipment in pit (including pit cover support beams) with CCS-100

With an application of CCS-100:

  1. Corrosion is stopped.

  2. Insulation works even under water, and will not absorb moisture.

  3. The equipment surface temperature is below the OSHA recommended 140ºF.

NOTE: Support beams for pit cover are also coated to stop corrosion.
