Polyurethane Foam Insulation

InsulBloc® polyurethane foam insulation is a highly versatile, closed cell, spray-in-place insulation, air barrier and moisture barrier system. InsulBloc costs about the same as conventional dampproofing and insulation but provides many additional benefits:

InsulBloc is a 2 lb/ft3 density, closed-cell foam. Trained applicators apply it as a liquid to the masonry block wall. The foam reacts, expands, and cures in-place, forming a fully-adhered, seamless insulating, dampproofing and air blocking membrane.

The specified air space is maintained because InsulBloc doesn’t completely fill the cavity.

InsulBloc adheres to CMU, poured concrete, primed steel, wood and most other construction materials.

Masons install brick facing over the foam. Standard anchors tie brick facing to the block wall.

. . . WHEN JUST INSULATION ISN’T ENOUGH®

Traditional masonry cavity wall construction utilizes a dampproof coating applied to the exterior of the CMU wythe followed by the installation of a rigid insulation board. This technique often leaves large gaps, breaks, and holes in the dampproofing and insulation at joints and penetrations: the wall is wasteful of energy and vulnerable to air and water infiltration.

The InsulBloc® system is continuous and can fill in large gaps and joints in the CMU wall. The result is a dramatically more effective barrier to heat transfer and air and water infiltration. Building owners and occupants will save energy and lessen the likelihood for mold and mildew.

InsulBloc costs about the same as conventional dampproofing and insulation.
